This past April in New York City, Macy’s held their sixth annual “The Workshop at Macy’s” business development program. The exclusive and highly selective workshop is geared towards successful entrepreneurs who have already done the grueling work of building a retail business that shows true potential. Of the thousands of applicatents who applied only nine were selected to participate in the program, including our amazing owner, Kim Williams.
The program, which lasts four intense days, focuses on developing and equipping women and minority business owners with retail and business knowledge while teaching them how to build and execute an effective business strategy. Participants learned and were tested on everything from retail math to the art of pitching a deal.
Shuga Bebe Couture was founded in 2013 when a highly motivated Mother has an idea for an innovative nursing pillow. Williams now in her third year of running her business saw the opportunity of “The Workshop at Macy’s” to not only expand her knowledge on what it takes to continue to grow her business, but also learn from other small and motivated businesses.
“I met a great group of entrepreneurs and learned so much. I can now see the breakdown of what it takes as a small business to work with bigger companies and to expand,” expressed Williams on her experience.
